I started out making round tables because I used wagon wheel rims and later whiskey and wine barrel hoops for rims. It took me several years to figure out and use weathered thin steel bands for the rims. After that it took me another year or so to figure out that I could make any shaped table. My first attempts was a dinosaur track and irregular shapes of single rocks.
I don't know why it took so long to figure out that an oval shapped coffee table would really look good. My first oval shaped top, with an ammonite focus stone is shown above. It was an instant hit and was gone right after I put the final seal coat on it. My second oval table is below. It has a Kanab sandstone focus and is available on my web site. You can also see it in person at the events featured on this web site.
