I found a the base at a local garage sale and made the top to fit.  It turned out to be 4feet by 2feet....and that's big for coffee tables.

I had recently obtained the two large slabs of sandstone from a loal quarry and was pleased they fit the top without having to chisle too much off the ends. 

When I made this table, I hadn't figured out how to make easily removeable tops so this one is fixed to its base.  That makes it difficult to transport in my van to shows where I sell my tables.   Luckily my wife claimed it before it was done.  It sits now in our living room where we enjoy it every day.
