At one of the side-shows associated with the Denver Gem and Mineral Show I ran into a vendor who had what looked to me to be white granite ith black spots in it! I have since then that this rock is called obicular granite and is found in Peru, Finland, and Australia. I need relatively large flat slabs for my table. The vendor told me he had an uncut rock in his local shop. I bought it and had it cut into slabs at my cousin's lapadary shop in Golden, Colorado.
I used two of the slabs as a focus here, mostly to prove that you could get a good design and not follow the 1:3:5:7 rule. I did and I called the result Africa becuase it has a shape very somewhat similar to Africa, but a lot smaller!
Unfortunately I don't have any more large slabs so this is probably the only table I'll ever make using obicular granite.
